Coral Ye Chen
Award-Winning Watercolor Artist
My Story
I am Coral, a watercolor artist. I've painted for most of my life, and I tried oil and acrylic along the way, but watercolor was always the one that stuck. I love how transparent and unpredictable it is, which is part of what keeps me coming back.
For many years, raising my five children came first. I kept teaching art during that time, which I loved, but my own painting mostly took a back seat. Once my kids left for university, I finally had the time to focus on my own work.
Since 2020, I've painted professionally, and I've grown a lot since then. My work has won several awards, including the Top Award in a 2021 online watercolor competition and honors from Women in Watercolor and the Louisiana International Watercolor Society in 2026.
Even through difficult times, creating watercolor paintings has always brought me peace of mind, clarity and passion for what I do.
